Karachi: Five killed, 20 injured in Maskan Chowrangi blast
KARACHI: At least five people were killed and 20 others injured in a bomb blast at the upper part of a multi-storey building at Maskan Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi. This was reported by Geo News.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of seven people is said to be critical.
The nature of the blast is not yet known, but the effects of the blast were so severe that the windows of a nearby building were shattered. Police officials said the blast may have been caused by a gas cylinder, but clarified that a bomb disposal squad was investigating the incident.

Saeed Ghani, who arrived at the site of the blast at the behest of the education minister, said authorities were 99% sure no one was under the rubble.
"All residents have been rescued from the building," Ghani said, adding that the evacuated people had been relocated because "the building is not workable" and they would have to be "brought down".
Talking about the cause of the blast, Ghani suggested that it was due to a leak in the gas line, but did not rule out the cause of the blast.
"We can't say yet whether it was a cylinder or a gas leak. I am not an expert but I think it was due to a leak in the gas line.
Ghani said there was no sign of fire or explosives.
Sindh Chief Minister took notice of the blast
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the Commissioner Karachi to submit a detailed report on the incident.
