The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) warned people against another "deadly" 'second wave of the corona virus' , urging people to follow the 'corona virus' SOPS, Geo News reported Saturday.
Welcoming the government's decision to impose fines on those who do not wear masks in public, the PMA asked the government to take stern action against those who do not comply with COVID-19 SOPs. "The virus has killed at least eight doctors in the last three weeks," the PMA said in a statement.
He also advised the government to organize a mask distribution drive to ensure that the prices of masks and sanitizers are controlled.
The PMA also demanded personal protection equipment for doctors and paramedics from the govt and therefore the release of funds promised under the already announced package.
Deadly second wave
Dr. Rauf Niazi, Professor of Endocrinology, told The News that COVID-19 was more lethal in the second wave than the first increase in Pakistan.
The News reports that mutations in the virus have further increased its gravity, which is very dangerous for people infected with it.
Dr. Niazi said that in recent days, patients received by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) appear to be more seriously ill than before.
